Berliner Zeitung reported that a strike by ground workers at Berlin’s Tegel and Schoenefeld airports will not take place tomorrow (Thursday 9th March). Instead the industrial action has been postponed until at least 10th March to allow employers to make a better offer.
A large majority of workers voted in favour of a strike at Schoenefeld and Tegel airports over a pay dispute. Verdi, the union representing the striking workers, is seeking a one euro increase in pay per hour for ground staff as part of a one-year collective agreement.
On Friday, 10 March, there will be some work stoppages but as yet no strike has been set. Passengers planning to fly into or out of the affected airports this week are advised to contact their airline to confirm flight status.
