Planned work on the A1 and the A696, which started on Monday 8th January, will mean a series of night-time closures until the end of March.
Anyone planning to fly from Newcastle airport during this time are advised to be aware of a week of night-time closures near Newcastle airport, which could affect those catching late flights.
All closures will run between 8pm and 6am, with the roads reopening during the day. Diversions will be in place.
Starting on Monday 15th January, there will be work on the A696 roundabout for Newcastle Airport, lasting one week.
During this time, the roundabout for the airport will be closed, as will the following:
The Northbound carriageway between the A1/A696 Kenton Bar roundabout and the A696 Newcastle Airport roundabout;
The Northbound A696 between the Newcastle Airport roundabout and the A696 Prestwick roundabout;
The southbound carriageway of the A696 between the Prestwick roundabout and the Newcastle Airport roundabout;
The A696 southbound carriageway between the Newcastle Airport roundabout and the start of the southbound entry slip road at the Black Callerton junction.
Diversions will be in place but drivers are advised to leave extra time for their journeys.
