    Manchester engineering work to disrupt rail services over Christmas period

    Engineering work is planned to take place in the Manchester area between the 18th December and the 2nd January.

    Rail bosses anticipate disruption to services and have advised passengers to check before they travel during this time.

    Oxford Road and Deansgate stations will be closed on the 27th and 31st December and on the 1st and 2nd January.

    Northern Rail have said that no trains will be running between Liverpool and Manchester Airport with all services ending at Eccles.

    TransPennine will not be running services between Liverpool and Manchester Piccadilly from the 27th until the 31st December. A rail replacement coach service will be available on this route instead.

    On New Year’s Day there will be no services between Edinburgh and Manchester.
